Michelle Allmendinger, Head Tennis Coach

Michelle Allmendinger serves as head women’s tennis coach and softball coach at Hanover College. Allmendinger, a former NCAA Division III athlete and coach, comes to Hanover after one year at GateWay Community College (AZ).

Allmendinger is a 1997 magna cum laude graduate of Knox College (IL) and a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary education and English while competing in both tennis and softball for the Prairie Fire. After graduation, she taught English at Galesburg High School (IL) while serving as head women’s tennis coach and assistant softball coach with the Knox athletic program.

She left teaching in 2001 to attend graduate school and, eventually, coach on a full-time basis. She earned a master’s degree in human kinetics from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2003, with a specialty in the psychology and sociology of sport.

Allmendinger joined the staff at Gateway Community College in 2004 to help launch the Geckos’ fast-pitch softball program. She also served as the college’s assistant athletic director.

Additionally, Allmendinger has prior experience as a youth tennis and softball instructor in Wisconsin, Illinois and Maine.
